TEACHERS --
Take your Students
TO the
Civil War
Take a local field trip to
Schilling Farms (white barn area) right in Collierville.
School Day is Friday, October 14
8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Come visit the Civil War camps and village
While Friday does not include an actual reenactment, students will be able to view the civilian camps and see how people lived during this era. Period crafts and demonstrations will be presented throughout the day, and the students as well can hear and learn about period dances and music by the 52nd Regimental String Band. There will also be demonstrations in the authentic camps, hospital units and typical camp life for a soldier. Period merchantiles will be open for shopping and browsing.
If you or your school needs an information packet and registration form, please contact us at the email address below.
The student groups will be guided around the encampment by experienced Civil War soldier historians and will stop at each of ten “stations”. Each different station will provide an educational experience into life during the 1860’s. There will be presentations by cavalrymen with their horses, Union and Confederate infantry, cannon-firing by the artillery, medical “surgery” by our Civil War doctor, visits to the displaced ladies and children in a refugee camp, lessons on candle making, soap-making, bread-making, music by an authentic Civil War band, and much more.
Send in your registration form NOW.
Don’t miss this opportunity to bring the Civil War to life.
